I really enjoyed your post. I think your dad did you a backhanded favor.....sorta like being thrown into the deep end of the pool for your first swimming lesson.<vbg>

I like the portfolio that you have devised and think you are wise to "leg in" to your positions incrementally. I doubt that there is hardly a person reading this thread that hasn't "timed" a purchase poorly, but not everyone takes the bull by the horns like you did to repair the damage.

BTW, I was recently visiting in LA and also spent time on the Promenade. There's a really nice Mexican restaurant the next street over. Can't remember the name right now, but the food was great! <edit> La Serenata was the name,I think...... Again, enjoyed your post and thank you for sharing your story.
