If you've held some of this stock since the 20's this is not a massacre at all. It's a very healthy consolidation...funny thing is..it might not have dipped nearly this much, if not for the good fortune of a NASDAQ correction. Watch it close. Great opportunity coming to ride back up. CREE is not particularly unusual here..take a look at the charts for TQNT and SDLI (which just split).
