panic_mob,

<Intel 866, 850 prices arrive next Monday>

Wonder what the availability of these puppies will be...

<The 866MHz and 850MHz Pentium III Coppermines which Intel delayed so it could rush a
1GHz processor out of the door will be formally announced next Monday>

Athlon 1Gs are apparently available in taiwan now. Will the 866s be available for anyone beyond the the top 2 or 3 OEMS?

<One OEM who declined to be named said: "AMD is chasing Intel down now. Sales of
Athlons now represent over 80 per cent of out slot based systems." >

Sounds good but I wonder how much of this has to do with Intel phasing out the slot based systems....
