Oy! What a heartbreaker of a story. What surprises me about your situation with your friends is that apparently they never even asked you what the company CSCO does! That certainly is an object lesson on why one should never just buy a stock on a recommendation (tip) without doing first your own DD. (Even the most basic research would have saved your friends $$$$) BTW, yet another reason, imo, to ditch the broker. I find if you make your own investment decisions, you are MUCH more likely to carefully research your positions. This isn't rocket science and with the ready access to financial resources online, it just doesn't make sense to hand your financial future over to someone else. Buy no load mutual fund if the DD seems too hard. bp
