AMD Athlon 550 rises from the dead System builders and distributors around the world are reporting that the AMD Athlon 550MHz processor, which many thought would disappear as the firm ramped up higher clock speeds, is once more for sale. Goutama, I could have told everybody the 550 was alive and well. That's my upgrade that was done two weeks ago....its the first step of a 2 step process to get to 950. Intel is reacting to the threat to its margins and has instituted programmes such as Goldarrow, which offers discounts and coop marketing rebates. How is discounting going to alleviate the pressure to Intel's margins?!! All discounting will do is maybe safeguard Intel's market share. ted
