Some bullish pals of mine were talking up the "new economy/internet" poop a few weeks ago. I asked them if any of them had bought much on the net during the last year and what percent of their annual domestic expenditures it might have represented. The replies provided surprises for both them and me. The low level of actual involvement surprised me, the extremely low level of total expenditures surprised the group. Afterward, I related to them the story of the Russians lifting beaucoup de credit card numbers from the net and of their getting caught only through the error of requesting UPS delivery of the expensive piles of goods ordered to a well known Eastern Europe city. Best, Earlie
