rotflmao...

i think a lot depends on one's budget...

if one has a grand to put in the gold mkt, i think one might as well go for a beaten down junior, maybe a kinross or golden star
if we are talking a sizeable sum of $$$, one should spread the bets around a bit, but sticking mostly with quality issues...these might include (in no particular order) au, nem, abx, hgmcy, gold, fn, pdg, asa

and if ya' love abx, overweight it, if ya' think they are overhedging, underweight it...

and if ya' think they are overhedging and you underweight abx relative to the xau (i.e buy 12 % abx instead of its current weighting (i think its 25 %) and the pog goes to the moon, you'll still have done extremely well

if the pog does extremely well, i think an investor can do well with or without abx, so whats the big freakin' deal ?

maybe a precious metal mutual fund (or a few of them) is best for most people, huh ? no worries about one particular mine having a 'story' to mess things up...

of course, maybe we NEED things to WORRY about <g>
