Shui-bian rejected as ``unacceptable' China's ``one country, two systems' formula for reunification, saying Taiwan would not follow in the steps of Hong Kong and Macau.

I don't blame him. His two competitors said the same thing.

My uneducated guess is it will be status quo. A bunch of sabre rattling and nothing will happen. Hong Kong had no choice. The British lease was non-renewed, and the British had no basis for argument.

The Taiwan situation has been going on for several years. When all is said and done, Taiwan will continue to operate on its own, China will call Taiwan theirs, and nothing will change.

All IMHO
