I think a good base to start a optics portfolio is to include the three best placed companies to prosper:
Nortel, Agilent and JDS Uniphase (NT,A,JDSU)I'am doing DD on some smaller cap names and also an industry search, I'll post the results. These three have the best possible future in this space. IMHO
