wopr1: While a threat may be there, Cisco is far from sitting still on fiberoptics. Very focused on it as Uncle Frank has said so well, and management is just about the best anywhere.

This may well turn out to be a major "opportunity" for Cisco. That has happened often in the past. The conversion of a challenge into an opportunity is a major part of Cisco's track record.

That is why I have only suggested watching carefully.

What will happen next year, the year after, and the year after that is open IMO.
