My name is [CodeMogul], and I hold 200 shares of JDS Uniphase, and have rights to 600 more by option.
I, as well as a host of other people in the message board communities, have noticed the arbitrage spread widen between JDSU and ETEK. Unfortunately, the widening of this spread in the past few days has induced considerable conjecture as to its cause, despite the nausea-inducing swings in the NASDAQ and the NYSE. Recently, a contributor to the ETEK message board in Yahoo! made the claim that the JDSU acquisition of ETEK is currently undergoing scrutiny by the government, and additional information was requested of the two parties. This individual also indicated that neither JDS Uniphase or E-Tek Dynamics had furnished comment.

I don't follow the vitriol that usually pervades the Yahoo! boards. I keep my activity to places such as the Silicon Investor and ClearStation, where apparently more level-headed individuals choose to make thoughtful evaluations of stocks, fundamentals, and technical analysis. However, the rumor initiated by this individual is spreading, and I was hoping that you could clarify the situation.
I should disclose that I will post your clarification to the message boards I do frequent.
