I originally intended to take issue with Gregory's post until I reread that comment <<"dominance with a fluid like nature'>>>.

While I don't agree with him that the GG has been solved, I do think he hit the nail on the head re: ORCL. They leveraged their database dominance into several new tornados. Time will tell whether they will dominate these new markets but the fact is, Orcl is participating in the winds of change. MSFT, on the otherhand, has not been able to leverage much beyond their OS and desktop application tornados.
