Hypothermia is frightening stuff.

Yup. When running my sailboat on Superior I was always concerned about dropping a guy overboard in heavy seas. Churn up the surface water and thermocline and the water temp was about 36 F, maybe less. If they were not on harness, by the time you could come about, pull down sail and find 'em they would likely be dead ducks in 20 minutes, depending on all the variables.

And few of my friends wanted to clip on much less wear a diving dry suit. -g-
