Indeed the answer to the question is No, and if I understand where you are going with this,I see it complimenting the doctrine of predestination,
Almighty God for-ordains things to come to pass according to the counsel of His will.
Taking my self as an example, in the fullness of time he caused me to " hear " the Gospel and the Word which is spirit and life fell on " good " ground, my heart.After the gestation period it brought forth Divine Life and I knew from that awareness and consciousness of God that I would now embark on walking with my Lord forever.
Did I choose God, absolutely, but after he had first chosen me and caused me to be made alive in Christ. It was His Word that took root in my " heart " that eventually caused me to be aware of the presence and consciousness of God.I then wanted nothing else but to forsake all and follow Him..........that is Grace and mercy.
