Reginald and ALL...Article...Intel debut's pentium 2 over the NET! Pentium II To Debut With Chinese Webcast (05/02/97; 8:45 a.m. EDT) By Mark Carroll, Electronic Engineering Times
TAIPEI, Taiwan -- On Wednesday, May 7, at 7 p.m. PDT, Intel will announce the rollout of its Pentium II live over the Internet. Craig Barrett, chief operating officer at the Santa Clara, Calif., company, will make the announcement from Shanghai, China.
The Internet Pentium II event will be available as text, audio and audio/video formats, in both English and Chinese.
But if you plan to check out the video delivery, don't expect too much. Lulu Tsao, a spokeswoman for Intel Asia, said, though "ISDN lines do exist in China, this Internet 'Webcast' will be done with plain, old phone lines."
To pull off this presentation, Intel is working with China's Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the Shanghai and Beijing Telegraph Co.s and Real Audio. ChinaNet, China's largest Internet service provider, will be the broadcast originator. The Internet announcement will be available on Barrett's "Live on Tour" page on Intel's Website. It will accessible through June 8. ______________________________________________________
Could this show how important Intel feels the asian markets are for future growth.
