I cannot disagree. I find many Greek and Roman writers much more to my taste than anything else until the 18th and 19th Century. That's quite a long stretch to wait before finding really congenial ideas. I'm glad I missed the dark ages, in Ireland or elsewhere. And the Renaissance wasn't all that great either, from my point of view- nowhere near liberal enough.
