AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 2000--Broadwing Inc. (NYSE:BRW - news) today announced that it is working with Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ - news) to deliver e-business services to the small to medium business market.

This relationship complements Broadwing's existing information technology consulting division, Broadwing IT Consulting, which specializes in delivering advanced technology services and solutions to Fortune 1500 clients. The relationship also enables Broadwing's Business Markets sales force to offer companies services and technologies that were previously available only to larger enterprises.

The relationship is aimed at providing small to medium enterprises with a single source for end-to-end computing services covering PCs, servers, enterprise applications and networks. Broadwing and Compaq will combine their complementary skills to deliver new services for a broad range of information technology and communications needs in the small to medium business market. The combination of Broadwing, with its next-generation fiber-optic network and sales force, and Compaq Services, with its infrastructure operations management and help-desk expertise, gives small to medium organizations the ability to take advantage of information technologies, such as the Internet, as do enterprises with larger budgets and massive IT organizations.

Compaq will offer services from its eBusiness Management Centers and on-site, service capabilities that have traditionally been available on a custom basis to multi-national corporations. Working in tandem with Compaq, Broadwing will provide small-medium enterprise customers with integrated communications services and support for the network infrastructure. Broadwing's award-winning, IP network, Gemini2000, will offer data, voice and multimedia transmissions with optimum performance and quality of service.
