Interesting analysis, Mark, and makes a whole lot of sense.

I have always been concerned with the burdens that a DOCSIS decision to support S-CMDA would place upon other modem manufacturers. A higher density ASIC would be exemplary of that burden.

Alternatively, it would be contrary to the DOCSIS mission to "abandon" those MSOs who for economic or other (TERN warrants) reasons opt to deploy the S-CDMA platform. For the reasons you suggest, I think your hypothesis as to the logistics of BRCM's acquisition of Digital Furnace and entry into S-CDMA makes a whole lot of sense. JMO.
