Qwest, after the announcement of the "merger" with US Worst, spoke glowingly about the !INTERPRISE VDSL trials in Phoenix (later Omaha) as a "cable killer." This service included cable TV service, as well as all of the other neat stuff that VDSL has promised for so long. Now (even before the rumored DT news), Qwest's management has downplayed this technology, saying that they will use multiple access technologies in the local loop. This is not to say that VDSL will not be used, however the tone is what gives me pause here. Has Qwest delved in deeply and found some problems? It would not surprise me if they did, as it almost seems too easy to run VDSL over FTTC backhauled over the Qwest backbone to the CyberCenter. JMHO, though.
