Maybe this data stuff is going to be more important than I've thought. It won't save us, but it'll help keep the wolf from the door. Globalstar was always going to have data and at one stage, OmniTRACS was going to swing onto it, though that doesn't seem to be the case now. But voice is what it's really about. For this constellation anyway. <NEW ORLEANS, Feb 28, QUALCOMM announced a new product for the Globalstar system, a GSP-1620 Satellite Packet Data Modem. QUALCOMM's Globalstar Packet Data Modem is designed to deliver clear and reliable digital data communications for urban and remote areas, using QUALCOMM's CDMA technology and the Globalstar Satellite Communications System. "The introduction of QUALCOMM's Globalstar Packet Data Modem demonstrates QUALCOMM's ongoing commitment to ensure that the Globalstar Communications System supports both voice and data applications," said Jerry Beckwith, president of QUALCOMM Wireless Systems.
