The company's OpenLinux is an operating system for PCs and servers that is based on Linux, the front-runner challenging Microsoft Windows' dominance. Nearly 75% of sales come from distributors such as Ingram Micro, Navarre, and Tech Data. OpenLinux eServer offers Web-based administration for corporate networks; forthcoming eBuilder is a Java-based development tool for e-commerce sites. Caldera offers consulting, training, and support services. The company is a spinoff of Caldera, Inc., which is itself a spinoff of networking specialist Novell. Director and former Novell CEO Raymond Noorda owns 84% of Caldera Systems through The Canopy Group and MTI Technology.
