Hi Duker -- As if holding a significant position in a semiconductor equipment LAGGARD isn't enough to satisfy our need for self-abuse, here comes another bit of news... I got a letter from Schwab today indicating that they are no longer extending margin on CFMT. I called, a bit miffed, to ask why -- and they say it is because of daily trading volume being < 100,000 shares. I went back and looked at volume for a number of months and found no real variation over that span, so I would submit that Schwab is being highly arbitrary (that is to say, why didn't they do this six months ago, then?)...and the "risk monitoring" rep there couldn't supply me with any other answer. He's going to have someone in their "risk assessment" area call me back. I'll share with the thread whatever they tell me. In the meantime, this cannot help but be one more reason for frustrated CFM holders who have watched the sector ship sail without them to bail (if they're among Schwab's 6.7MM accounts...)
