Thank you for running those other tax-timing scenarios. Having seen the reaction to my post about that, I as going to do the same. You saved me the trouble.

In the spirit of open disclosure, your scenario of selling every two years resulted in a much lower number than mine. And your scenario of selling only once at the end of the thirty-year period resulted in an insignificantly lower number than mine, so slight that it might be explained by rounding differences.

It's not worth pursuing the cause of the differing results. The results of your number crunching continues to support the observation that short-term strategies must achieve far higher pre-tax returns to achieve the after-tax returns of the longer-term strategies.
