DVD in Korea....................................

I'm in Korea, and I just checked out DVD players in a department store here. I played with them briefly, but I didn't really have a chance to put them through their paces. None of them were branded "C-Cube Inside." I needed FredE and his tools. This is what I saw:

LG (Lucky-Goldstar) Model DVD-1000B. Cost about $950. Decent picture and features.

Samsung Model DVD-860. Cost about $980. Better picture than the LG model.

Samsung computer with built-in DVD player. Model: Magic Station Pro-DVD. I didn't write down the cost. The DVD was not merely a data storage device, because it appeared to have some MPEG video playback capability. The video was not that great -- it possibly could have used software decoding with poor MPEG2 algorithms. Significant because it is the first computer (that I have seen) with built-in DVD player. I'm sure there are many more to come.
