This dog is outta here. The front section of the annual report did it. This is not a profit-making venture - it is an ego problem.

OK, there's another reason - I just got a cable modem. ISPs that deliver via telephone (ISDN included) are toast. T O A S T. You wouldn't have heard this from me a month ago. Admittedly, some cable modem operations have been poor, and I've got @Home from Cox, which is toward the high end. They have done everything right, and this is the best Internet service I've ever had in every possible way.

But I started to get a clue when my old ISP (I still have my web sites there, though) started imposing an hourly fee for hours over a limit. When I talked to them about it (I'm on pretty friendly terms with them - I have two web sites there) they told me that they are getting out of the consumer business and concentrating solely on business connections and web sites. ELNK has gone in precisely the opposite direction.

Then I heard about the bankruptcy of someone that I'd tried to steer away from the business, but wouldn't listen. Apparenly, ELNK sucked-up their customers. Greater fool theory.

Might pop at some point, but I'd bet on under 1 within a year.
