Yes, there is always a reason to have religion....Scarry?

Not at all Richard.... I don't believe simply as an indulgence to placate my fear of death.

But if anything... a nation of people who figure that life is transitional, to be followed by a heavenly eternity, is a nation to be feared.

After all... they have nothing to lose.. and ultimately they recognize their lives for what they are... physical containers for their souls. Containers that are engaged in a silly @ssed game of tribal rivalry over geography, resources, or... alas.. religious differences.

That's why most of us fear the extremist muslims. They look forward to dying for Allah.

Myself.. I'm not willing to exercise violence in the name of god. But if forced into self-defence against a nation that seeks to destroy my freedoms or ability to worship as I see fit, my life is pretty much over one way or another.. especially with regard to nuclear war. That should generate a certain amount of extremist hatred of all things Chinese.

I would probably be forced to avoid ever eating General Tso's chicken again. And that would pain me greatly.

Oh well... let's just hope that it doesn't come to that in our lifetimes.

Regards,

Ron
