more interesting facts:

1.the new taiwanese president comes from an agrarian background(native taiwanese)-result:he may not be as concerned about the chip industry as the old president
2.the old party-the one that got beat- represents the high tech part of the country(mainland chinese)
3.The gov't will turn over to the new regime on May 21
4.my friend had tickets to visit his family in mainland china but has decided to forgo the trip
5.my friend says that it will be very difficult for the new president to "control" the country because of the wide differences of views and opinions between political partys......Rich
