Top CEOs to meet Clinton in Hyderabad

New Delhi, March 21 (HT Correspondent)

The country's top industrialists including Ratan Tata (TATA), Rahul Bajaj (Bajaj), N. Narayanmurthy (Infosys), Azim Premji (Wipro), V. Ramalinga Raju (Satyam), D. S. Brar and Ajay Piramal (Nicholas Piramal) will be among the 140 CEOs who will be meeting the US president and his entourage in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) the venue will be at the futuristic Hitech City, an initiative of the Andhra Pradesh government and the private sector. Clinton is likely to make a 35 minute address on the subject of 'knowledge-based industry' to 1200 people that is to be followed by a brief Q&A.

Before the speech, he is to visit a large exhibition by twenty leading companies who have excelled in the field of software, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Infosys, Satyam, Dr Reddy's Laboratories and Shanta Biotech are some of the companies who are setting up exhibition stalls.

Escorted by US Commerce Secretary William Daley and American Chamber of Commerce president Sanjay Bhatnagar, President Clinton is expected to spend less than a hour looking at the new technologies will be showcased. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's model of 'e-governance' will also be one of the exhibits along with Nasscom, MAIT and CII stalls. Senior CII consultant Omkar Goswami said "the president will also inaugurate the Green Business Center, jointly run by the US Energy Association and CII's environment and energy divisions." Some MoUs are also to be signed between the Andhra government and Daley.
