First, the disclaimers:

1. I am not an E-trade customer nor shareholder nor short nor option punter nor former customer.

2. Customer service and satisfaction sometimes have nothing to do with stock price. AOL stands out as the canonical example.

3. I have no relationship with any web site I mention here.

Now, then...

Many people are skeptical of Gomez's objectivity, given their financial ties to the brokers they evaluate. There are other sites that evaluate brokers, without accepting their ad dollars. Don Johnson (not that one) stands out:

Johnson's February report on E-trade was unfavorable, but he reported serious efforts on E-trade's part to rectify their problems. He also mentioned that "many customers really like this firm."
