Gary - RE: For those who need SMP, please use Xeon
Use hardware designed for SMP? Radical!!

or may be Athlon(if there is such thing).

There is such a thing as Athlon... but unless the folks at AMD know something I don't, real SMP is a ways out. Even if they could produce the chips and chipsets, who would take it to market? Well, maybe a 2-way workstation product.

But for a 1P machine running Win98, Athlon does pretty well... I did some editing of digital video on an 850 MHz Athlon and that sucker was definitely FAST... I normally use a dual-processor workstation (600MHz PIII) which I thought was pretty quick, but for single task performance the Athlon sure seemed faster. Maybe I need a new workstation - the top of the line CPQ SP series has dual 800MHz Xeon. Yea, I think I need one of those...
