One of the challenges with speech recognition is physical. There have been a number of Human Factors studies done on the use of speech in different scenarios. The overall conclusion seems to be that speech is good for quick commands (call Marty), but physically tasking for long commands (i.e. the primary interface to your computer).

These conclusions are not too surprising. I can type all day without a problem. However, try talking all day.... I have when I taught courses and I am totally wiped out.
