To the Porch: would appreciate some clarity on the mechanics of CC's. Our broker's trading screen lists only "selling calls" as a choice. No mention of 'writing covered calls.' Our other broker (who limits us to only writing CC's - an IRA) uses the phrase "write covered call" on their trading screen.

Now, because I seem to recall a post once, either here or on Jill and Poet's thread, that 'said' "writing a covered call" is not the same thing as "selling a call" I'm confused and don't want to screw up. It may be I misunderstood that earlier post, or, recollect it incorrectly. Still, I wonder why two different brokers would use different language (Siebert and DLJ).

Would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
