Speech recognition applications-- Not just speech recognition per se, but translation and speech generation. I know that LHSP is working with people writing lip sync animation software for the internet. A digital animation sequence (and when I say animation I mean Jar Jar Binks, not Saturday morning) is generated on demand in viewers' language of choice, with appropriate lip sync (as opposed to, say, a "dubbed" spaghetti western). Potential for interactive applications in a global/multilingual context is pretty impressive. j.
