The significance of Schwartz ripping ERICY a new earhole was to illustrate that G* is pushing for GSM phone deployment. ERICY just hadn't gotten it done. Let's put the blame where it belongs (on this issue, anyway)...at ERICY's feet.
Obviously, phones need to be produced for them to be sold and used. Guidance was given in the 3/8/00, CC as to near term production output for all manufacturers, so I think saying there is silence from G* 14 days later is being harsh. I'd much rather have the company spend its time getting GWs deployed, licenses approved, roaming smoothed out, SPs motivated, gov't. subsidies, etc. than worrying about providing investors week by week status reports. If G* executes on the other aspects of the BP, I believe the phone production will be there.
BTW, have you seen the ERICY phone? It's quite slick and good looking, in my opinion. Now, let's get 'em built, sold, and used! :-) |
