I guess anything is possible. And yes, I do agree - as long as the cloud of litigation is hanging over MSFT, the stock is "stuck" - in fact I've been a proponent of this view for years now (and got into terrific fights over this on the MSFT board here<ggg>)... that is why I haven't been adding to my MSFT holdings since early 99 - dead money, unfortunately. I kind of think of all my MSFT holdings as a kind of giant option that never expires. One day it will explode upwards, but when will that be? Beats me. I don't even bother doing any TA on MSFT - because it is ruled not by trading, but by these external factors which are impossible to predict, like the DOJ and the judge.

IF MSFT is settling - wow, that would really be something. I hope you are right. The only reason why I am a bit skeptical, is because it seems the DOJ is asking not just for an arm and a leg, but for MSFT's head. I just can't see how the DOJ will back down from their outsized demands, given that the judge has pretty much given them everything and more. The DOJ has no incentive to ask for less. And why should MSFT agree to commit suicide? But if I am wrong, and somehow a sensible settlement is reached - nobody will be happier than me! I'm sitting on a ton of MSFT, and will hold till hell freezes over.
