Eric,

Nothing rings true about the possibility of EMC private labeling a NAS product. It just doesn't fit any of the management style or pattern that some of us have observed for almost a decade now. After EMC refused to OEM and private label EMC products as HP products and subsequently ate HP's lunch after HP refused to renew a relationship but instead opted for a relationship with Hitachi simply because EMC would not agree to that private labeling (and installation control)it just doesn't hold that EMC would put their label on somebody's product unless it was NTAP's. That IMO is the only way it could work. A more believable scenario that fits the EMC style and history is that they will introduce a home designed NAS product that is equivalent or superior to NTAP's products and they will be upgradeable, scaleable and software compatible with the EMC Symmetrix line and will induce smaller size customers to grow into larger EMC systems. I have no inside knowledge of this but it just makes sense that EMC would want to leverage their large software libraries with any new product introduction and you can't do that easily with a private label product and you put yourself in the position of developing software around someome elses product; a big no-no.. EMC management is not only visionary but they are hard charging pragmatists that I can't ever see exposing themselves to this possibility.. I hold both EMC and NTAP shares and still believe that there is ample room for growth for both of them. It is not a we/they situation. RCB
