<why can't G* management at least start the process of shifting some GSM G* phone production toward others - help the small Italian firm Telital (sp?) produce more for example. >

Couple of things here:

-As for finding new handset manufacturers, I believe the current three can handle the job. Since you can't just snap your fingers and bring a phone to market, what could be gained in the short term? Longer term, I think the supply issue will resolve itself.

-G* has stated that Telit (formerly Telital) is willing to increase production numbers, if necessary. G* didn't do that as far as I can tell. A rumor is that some of the SPs see market recognition with ERICY (over Telit), and wanted to wait for their GSM phone. My opinion is that the SPs weren't going to push this service until all the ducks were lined up; therefore, the phone production "problem" was a bit of a smoke screen to avoid saying that the system wasn't ready.

-Lastly, I would like to keep an eye on how quickly ERICY gets the ACES phones together. It won't really tell us much except to see their performance for PSNRY relative to G*.
