To put it bluntly, the US lags because the FCC seems to be more interested in "doing good" by the FCC's definition, (and even making money - huh - impossible that could be a factor, no? ) than making access available.

And the lack of action on "caller pays" seems to be failing to take a key action to smooth wireless adoption that the FCC could do itself (in its power clearly) but hasn't.

Could opposition from the "big boys" have any influence in that? Naw, couldn't be.

That may be totally misreading what the FCC has done and what it is doing.

If so, I will apologize when shown the error of that impression.

For example, for those of you who might have read the animal farm. Everyone is equal before the FCC apparently, but McCaw seems more equal.

Perhaps my perception on that is false and wrong.

But NextWave does raise doubts, no?

How come the FCC is bending over backwards and in bed (not delicately put but the gist seems there) with Nextel?

There seems to be some signs that a private deal was worked out in violation of a rapid data roll out, and a roll over of the bankruptcy court became the action taken and retaken.

Hope what I think I see is completely and totally wrong.

But CDMA and the Q seem to have be treated a bit, just a bit perhaps, in slightly less friendly fashion than McCaw's companies.

Again, I probably see this wrong.
