Is the S&P using a few dying gasps to put in a marginal new high before collapsing or are we about to see a new leg of a bull market brought on by evidence that the economy will slow later on so a couple of additional rate hikes and we'll have a successful soft landing?

My guess is that bear market rallies do not make new highs, therefore the bulls live on for awhile anyway.

Marginal new highs usually occur on low volume with the day ending in the bottom half of it's trading band that day. Yesterday the S&P made an impressive new high on higher volume than the previous day. Today it made a new high on higher volume than yesterday.

The Feb 25 S&P500 close was justa bout a 10% correction off of the 12/31 close and 10% corrections have not been all that common in the bull run since 10/90. Therefore, Bob's model was dead on when it signalled a risky market a few months back.

However, it appears that the risk has now passed IMHO.
