RE: I think it appropriate at this juncture that JDSU and ETEK issue a joint statement indicating that they are addressing and will alleviate Alcatel's concerns. I couldn't agree more. If I remember correctly, the first article posted on this board about the JDSU/ETEK merger a few days ago mentioned that the main problem area would be thin-film filters. This is now coming out, but there may be a solution. If GLW is able to supply these filters, this shouldn't be a deal-breaker. I'm probably na‹ve, but it doesn't seem that difficult to me to simply guarantee Alcatel and others that there will be no price increase for 18 months. This would leave plenty of time for a GLW or another competitor to ramp up production.
