THE VISIT OF CHINESE MINISTER, WU JICHUAN

Italian technology, Chinese market and production: this was the proposal made by the Telit Group to the Chinese Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Wu Jichuan, during his recent visit to Telit in Trieste, accompanied by numerous high-ranking government officials.

During the important meeting, following a presentation of Telital Group's potential and of its strong commitment to research and development, concrete possibilities for collaboration were examined, specially as regards satellite
technologies for the Globalstar service and the development of digital cellular telephony towards the forthcoming "third generation" and the future UMTS standard.
In confirming that Telit's technologies and products were of interest to the Chinese market, and with a view to setting up a complementary collaborative relationship, Minister Wu Jichuan expressed the interest of the Chinese government in exploring further the subjects to be examined in a future technical meeting to be held in Beijing at the end of the year, thanks in part to the strengthening of the two Telital Group companies already operating in China.

With this in mind, the Minister stressed the need for cooperation regarding technology and, in expressing his appreciation of the mission and the structure of our
Group, he also proposed that relations be opened with the Chinese government, and in particular with the Department of Science and Technology in his Ministry.
