Advanced Radio Telecom Agreement with U.S. RealTel Provides Access to 1,000 Commercial Buildings in 28 States

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 1999--Advanced Radio Telecom Corp. (Nasdaq:ARTT - news), provider of broadband wireless Internet Protocol (IP) services, and Chicago-based U.S. RealTel Inc. (Nasdaq:USRT-OTC), one of the world's largest landlords of pre-leased telecommunications access sites, announced today a Master Sublease agreement that allows ART access to up to 1,000 commercial buildings in U.S. RealTel's (USRT) network of properties nationwide.

The Master Sublease agreement gives ART access to office and industrial buildings in 28 states. ART will now be able to access those buildings under one sublease, rather than hundreds of separate subleases, to build its broadband fixed wireless and fiber network nationwide. Tenants within the properties can benefit from ART's unprecedented 100Mbps IP services.

``Being able to tap into USRT's Telecom Grid(TM) will help to expedite the national rollout of our broadband wireless IP network,' said Robert McCambridge, interim president, CEO, and CFO of ART. ``This national agreement helps us to target the communications-intensive businesses that are located in USRT properties to offer our high-speed data access services.'

USRT markets rooftop and building access to more than 9,000 office, industrial, retail and residential properties through the USRT Telecom Grid. The agreement gives ART the ability to incorporate USRT's commercial properties into its broadband fixed wireless/fiber network in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.

``Tenants are increasingly demanding advanced telecommunication services like high-speed Internet access,' said Charlie McNamee, president of USRT's Occupant Services Division. ``The simplicity of the Master Sublease agreement allows ART to reach out to the market to provide these types services.'
