Motorola Selects Powerwave as Power Amplifier Vendor

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 2000--Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT - news) and Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV - news) announced today that they have entered into a five-year exclusive agreement that designates Powerwave as the sole aftermarket supplier of high power, multi-carrier power amplifiers for Motorola's cellular base stations.

This agreement will provide Motorola customers a high power option on SC(TM)9600 and SC2400 base transceiver station products. Motorola chose Powerwave because it is a leading manufacturer and marketer of high performance radio frequency (RF) power amplifiers for use in wireless communications networks.

``This addition of the Powerwave's high-power amplifiers enhances our CDMA (code division multiple access) product portfolio for unique market applications,' said Neal Campbell, director of product operations of the Cellular System Division of Motorola's Network Solutions Sector. ``This agreement provides our customers access to a high-power BTS option with integrated Motorola operations and maintenance,' said Campbell.

``Powerwave is excited about working with Motorola to provide high performance RF power amplifier solutions to its customers,' said Bruce C. Edwards, Powerwave Technologies president and chief executive officer. ``We also are very excited about expanding our relationship with Motorola as they look to bring leading edge wireless solutions to their customer base,' said Edwards.
