Anone isn't here, but if anyone will due, yes. In the sense that you are talking about, it's the routing device that is the pipe between two networks, such as a LAN and a WAN. I believe the data to which you refer is a traceroute dialog from a site. David, I knew you would know. Here is what I would like to know if the traceroute information I supplied is adequate for you to make this determination. My local area has three ISPs. If I trace from one ISP gremlan.org to toociy.net, this is the route: Find route to: toolcity.net. (208.0.188.2), Max 30 hops, 40 byte packets Host Names truncated to 32 bytes 1 annex2.gremlan.org. (209.14.48.4 ): 158ms 158ms 147ms 2 gateway.gremlan.org. (209.14.48.1 ): 156ms 156ms 154ms 3 166.102.176.1 (166.102.176.1 ): 155ms 154ms 156ms 4 a0.519.pittsburgh1.agis.net. (206.84.225.25 ): 189ms 181ms 182ms 5 ga02f.washington4.agis.net. (206.84.225.250 ): 193ms 190ms 191ms 6 ga011.washington3.agis.net. If I trace between gremlan.org and www.highwaygds.net the only hop is a gateway. So is gremlan.org and www.highwaygds.net on the same LAN? Glenn
