I assume that any change would be very carefully orchestrated, and in small increments, the same way rates have been ratcheted up lately.

Of course, you know what you get when you assume. . .

As I said earlier, Greenspan might decide that a little shock effect would be preferable. I think that is a small risk, but not negligble.
