SDRAM = synchronous dynamic random access memory
RDRAM = rambus dynamic random access memory
DDRDRAM = double data rate dynamic random access memory

Whoa Dan the Man, you sure have put out a lot of slick data, causing my primary brain (which is the only I have) to overload and crash.

So let me make this simple.

1. DRAM is expected to replace SRAM eventually and either RDRAM or DDRDRAM is expected to replace SDRAM?

2. DDRDRAM comes in 2 formats, 64 bit and 16 bit; neither of which are faster than RDRAM. What is the difference in speed? How significant is the speed differential for the average user? Is it possible that RDRAM will be used for special corporate needs or in certain types of research that require speed, and that DDRDRAM will be used for more conventional needs like the typical desktop pc?

3. Currently RDRAM is 2 times? 3 times? 4 times? more expensive than DDRAM.

4. Its sounds to me that Edelstone re his upgrade on RMBS really doesn't have a clue. Do you agree with that statement?

Dan, I think I will stop there. Thanks for the detailed response. Most appreciated. Its really made the DDRDRAM vs RDRAM scenario much clearer to me.
