Calistoga and Hollister are >3 hours drive each way from my shack in S'vale. My radius of opportunity is 1 hour, door to door, in traffic, max 60mph in my minimal Honda. San Fran is already outside that radius. With age I've developed some sort of travel sickness. More than 2 hours/day in a car and I'm in "recovery mode" for a week. I'd'a made a lousy trucker :-)
I've flown out of High Country Soaring in Minden, on a vacation. Grobs are a handful to a guy with 50 hours in 2-33s and 1-26s.
Last time up, eight years ago in Massachusetts with the MIT Soaring Ass'n. A 1-34, I believe.
Your silver words do take me back a ways. I still have the dreams, though...
