Interspeed Announces $5 Million Contract With Darwin Networks
Integrated Interspeed DART and Interspeed 500 Form Foundations of Leading Network and High-Speed Internet Access Provider's DSL Rollout
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Interspeed, Inc. (Nasdaq: ISPD - news), a leading provider of integrated, high-speed digital subscriber line (DSL) access solutions for building-centric service providers, today announced a $5 million contract with Darwin Networks, a leading provider of network and high-speed Internet access services nationwide. Under the terms of the 18-month contract, Darwin Networks will begin deploying the Interspeed DART and Interspeed 500 solutions to the commercial real estate market. Both products are optimized for in-building applications, integrate the principal components required for DSL service, and are scalable from 8 to 48 ports, thereby enabling Darwin Networks to increase the speed and flexibility of their customer deployments.
``We believe the benefits of Interspeed's integrated DSL Access Routers are unmistakable,' said Joel Coleman, President of Darwin Networks' Commercial Division. ``During the time that Darwin Networks and Interspeed have worked together, our customers' responses have been very strong and very positive. We anticipate this will be a great year for the expansion of site-based, DSL Internet services. Interspeed's deployment and engineering support should enable Darwin Networks to expand its share of this growing market.'
``Since day one, the Multi-Tenant Unit (MTU) market has been a primary focus for Interspeed,' said Art Goodwin, Senior Vice President of World Wide Sales at Interspeed. ``The Interspeed DART and Interspeed 500 solutions were built from the ground up to meet an in-building service provider's specific performance, management and size requirements. Through Darwin Network's relationships with leading Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), Interspeed looks forward to the successful rollout of DSL services in the MTU and other markets.'
About the Interspeed DART and Interspeed 500
Interspeed offers building-centric service providers two highly configurable DSL Access Routers - the Interspeed 500 and Interspeed DART. Both products include complete DSL aggregation, Layer 2 switching, IP Routing, and VPN functions in a single device, thus eliminating the need for service providers to purchase these components separately, which saves significant costs. The Interspeed DART is the industry's first complete, low-density DSL solution that enables service providers to deliver high-speed Internet access and other advanced IP applications to the MTU market. The Interspeed 500 is designed for larger MTU building environments. The two products are managed with Speedview(TM), a powerful set of administration and management functions that make installation as simple as ``plug and play.'
