"Had you done anything to remove these invasive files?"

no

"Does Blackice protect you from this kind of thing?"

i do not know. the gibson article is really the first opportunity i've had to pay attention to this subject. i'm guessing here, but because of the use of terms like "intrusive" and the references to "trojans", that yes, blackice detects this to some degree or extent. however, if bi covered the subject thoroughly, then gibson wouldn't have gone to the trouble to produce this program, would have he? i reiterate, i'm guessing. it wouldn't take all that much to search the networkice site or email support for details. if no one else produces an answer, perhaps i will do that.

otoh, if any of these files existed prior to installation of bi, would they be detected? maybe not. just a thought.

and one last thought... would any of these files be detected during virus scans?

it will be telling, i think, to hear from others on this subject, as to whether they came up with zero for results and they have firewalls.

"I had 21 files capable of tracking me that Optout removed."

everything functioning okay on your pc since then? all programs work? did you set optout to run on start up?

:)
