Pascal. Don't ever believe what reporters write! I checked the US version
of the Wall Street Journal and it said what you quoted. But look at
the stock tables and you will see 104 1/8 for Wednesday and
103 5/8 for Tuesday. Now that's a 1/2 gain, but they're also quoting
the composite exchange. If you look at the closes for the primary exchange
which is what the Dow Jones Industrials uses for the calculation,
Wednesday close was 103 3/4 and Tuesday close was 103 5/8. And
that's the gain of only 1/8 that I mentioned for the DOW stock.

Check it out the tables in the journal. You should at least be able to
agree with me that the reporters can't do simple math. Unfortunately,
you probably don't have a source for primary prices. Let me know what
you find out.
